Young cinematographer with a different outlook
In this competitive world, we find many people who strive hard to put their initial step into the film industry and it doesn’t have any particular doorway to step into it. Here we have an example of a \'college dropout\', who transformed himself into a household name with his dedication and hard work – Abhiraj Rajendera Nair.
In this competitive world, we find many people who strive hard to put their initial step into the film industry and it doesn’t have any particular doorway to step into it. Here we have an example of a 'college dropout', who transformed himself into a household name with his dedication and hard work – Abhiraj Rajendera Nair.
Abhiraj Nair, whose roots are from Kerala, is staying in Hyderabad from childhood. He made his debut as a cinematographer at a very young age. He states that academics were not meant for him. "Art is truth and it is the way I present myself to the society. My passion towards my work won’t die until I die," says the 24-year-old cinematographer.
His projects like ‘Patang’, ‘Dilkush’, ‘Forever’ and ‘Who Am I’ showcase his professionalism in the field. "’Patang’ brought the change of which I dreamt," says the avid filmmaker and adds, "My parents, who never supported me, started to accept me as a cinematographer.
People feel that ‘Patang’ was an accidental project. However, it is not the case. Every shot in that project was pre-planned. We spent more than one hour on each frame while editing," he shares. Nair, who was a student of Little Flower Degree College, Uppal, says, "My College has helped me a lot in developing my personality and I will always be thankful to my institution ".
He says that discipline is the most important ingredient for success. “Without discipline, our dreams are like a vehicle without fuel, " he opines. Nair is now working on a music video titled “Nijamena". The song is composed by Durga Bahadur and Alaap Raju, who is a Chennai-based playback singer and a bass player has rendered his voice for the song.
This young cinematographer points out that the market in Telugu Film Industry is "completely commercial" and they do not appreciate art much. He states that most of the youngsters do not have the passion in them, and they want to do it because of the easy access to the social media. "I believe that if you want to make a difference you need to act on it. That is the formula for success,” he says.
Nair has a few more projects in the pipeline. He is working on two Malayalam films and a Telugu film, where he is going to work with film director Gangadhar Advaita, who is also making his debut with this movie. (J Hub)
