Shiva temples in Sangaredy, Medak, Siddipet and other towns in the district were crowded with devotees on the first Monday of the Karthika Masam.

They performed special poojs and ‘abhishekam’. In Sangareddy, people thronged the temples Jarasangham Sangameswara, Rejinthal Vigneswara and Kasivisheswara.

At Sri Ketaki Sangameswara temple, which is famous as ‘Dakshina Kasi’, devotees from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana performed rituals with devotion in large numbers and took a holy dip.

Baswa Swamy, an Archaka of the temple, told The Hans India that the ‘kalyanam’ of Lord Sangameswara, followed by ‘pallaki seva’, would be organised on Karthika Pournami day.

In Siddipet and Toopran the devotees went round the Kotilingala temple and Ramalingeswara Swamy shrine respectively. In Medak, devotees of Lord Shiva offered special pooja to the deity in old shrines.

They made a beeline to the Basaveswara and Mallikarjuna temples for performing rituals like ‘abhishekam’ with ‘panchamrutham’, even as chants like ‘Om Namassivaya’ and ‘Siva Siva Hara Hara Mahadev’ rented the air.
