Nizamabad: International Federation of Trade Union (IFTU) State president Vanamala Krishna called upon the workers to wage a struggle against imperialism and protect their jobs.

Giving his valedictory address at the district IFTU conference here on Monday, he said that the NDA government headed by Narendra Modi was acting at the behest of the imperialistic forces and was protecting the interests of the MNCs, thus hurting the interests of the poor and the downtrodden.

He accused the Central and State governments of following anti-labour policies. The IFTU president said that time has come for the workers to intensify their struggle and revolt against the anti-people’s policies.

Even the TRS government under K Chandrashekar Rao was pursuing anti-people’s policies and was putting to the villagers to immense hardships.

The TRS government made false promises during the 2014 elections that it would construct 2 BHK houses for them, but even after two years of coming to power, it did nothing.

Similarly, the promise to sanction three acres of land to the Dalits was also not fulfilled, he lamented. He said that the State government also took the students for a ride.

Krishna lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing policies that were detrimental to the beedi workers. The Centre was trying to destroy the livelihood of a large number of beedi workers, he lamented.

He said that the people would teach a bitter lesson to the NDA government in the 2019 elections.

He said that they would wage an intensive struggle to protect the interests of the beedi workers. He demanded adequate compensatory financial package for the beedi workers.
