Doctors at MaxCure Hospitals saved two youth who met with a near-fatal accident recently. Rahul and Sharan aged 23 years working at Singareni Coal Mines were hit by a drunken driver in Hitec City around 1am on October 1. Both were brought to the Hospital in an unconscious state.

The operation was carried out by Dr Kiran Banda (Cosmetic & Plastic Surgeon) along with Dr Sateesh Kumar (Head – Dept. of Emergency), who reattached the flap through muscle surgery with grafting and also restored original hairline to the Singareni labourer during a four-hour operation.

Announcing the details, Dr Kumar said, “Sharan Sagar had a major head injury where a flap of the skin along with the muscle got detached from his skull. The flap contained dirt, sand and other particles.

The patients in fact survived a traumatic injury. Most roads turn into death traps post-midnight due to the lack of monitoring.”

On the other hand, Rahul had surgery for facial fractures and was discharged on the same day.

“Sharan’s case is one of the classic cases of RTA. Though the nervous system was not affected, he had a major head injury. There was large amount of sand and dirt when he was admitted.

The surgery was highly complicated as it was a head injury. During this reconstruction, we used the skin grafting procedure. Also, we have restored the original hairline.

The patient has recovered 100 per cent from the injury in less than one month,” said Dr Banda.
