The Krishnakriti Festival intends to celebrate the three abiding refinements of life — art, culture and education — and to share these with as many people as possible.

The festival also offers a plethora of cultural activities, including a classical music theatre, art talk, screening of movies and a series of talks on the visual arts and their place in contemporary culture.

The fest will open with four different art exhibitions catering to eclectic tastes. “We are getting artists like Sumantra Sen and Katharina Kakar.

Sen will showcase her works ‘Hahakar’, which explores the relationship between Muslim and India’s role in the First World War.

Katharina will display her paintings and installations, in an exhibition titled ‘Crossing the Lakshmana Rekha’, which takes an unflinching look at female sexuality, beauty, fertility, courage and abuse.

But the premier exhibition of the art festival will be inaugurated only on Day 2. And renowned artist Beatrice Didier will be presenting her works,” Prshant Lahoti, Managing trustee of Krishnakriti Foundation and owner of Kalakriti Art Gallery said.

Krishnakriti Art Festival will host the screening of three thought-provoking documentaries – Shaunak Sen’s ‘Cities of Sleep’, Oindrila Dasgupta’s ‘Desiring the City’ and ‘Bade TV Wala.’

Each film shines the light on some very real people inhabiting Indian cities.
There will be a panel discussion on the subject like ‘Galleries’, ‘Biennale’ ‘Alternative Art Spaces in India’, ‘The Role of Foreign Mission in Promoting Contemporary Indian Art’ and ‘Art in Smart Cities’.

“This time we have workshops on the geographic information system, string puppets and the most interesting one is the art of taking selfies.

We have classical programmes like Kathak, classical music performance and contemporary dancer Astad Deboo will be performing on a concluding day,” he shared.
