Twenty-one-year-old Bharatnatyam prodigy, Nisha Durr performed her ‘arangetram’ at Keys High School over the weekend.

Born and raised in the United States of America, Durr’s parents, Fred and Anu moved to India and honed the skill in their daughter under the aegis of Meena Panicker, founder of Aradhana School of Bharatnatyam.

After 13 years of hard training and dedication, Purr performed her debut.

Commenting on the performance, her guru, Panicker said, “Our school has seen many students wholeheartedly cherish the art of bharatanatyam due its divine nature of expression, joy, peace and comfort that seems lost in today’s digital age.

As Nisha’s guru, it gives me immense joy to witness her growth as a person and artiste fulfilling her destiny and a mentor’s dream.”

Many renowned personalities and public figures were present at the event.

This includes writer and actor Dr K Vishwanath; director and founder of Sri Rama Kanaka Niketan, Sri VS Ramamoorthy and Dr Vineeta Sinha, Prof and Head of Sociology, South Asian Studies Department, National University Of Singapore.
