Khanapur: In remand prisoner Mangya Naik’s death case, relatives and the tribals of Itikyala village on Sunday resorted to large scale agitation while bringing the body of Naik from Adilabad to Pembi and refused to take it to Kista Naik Thanda for cremation till their demands were not met.They include ex-gratia to the bereaved family, a government job to a member in the family, placing under suspension Pembi SI and constable.

There ensued jostling between Itikyala and Pembi residents for some time. The police tried very had to persuade the irate family members, but in vain.At one stage, the relatives left the body near the Pembi police station and refused to move it till their demands were not agreed upon.

However, they relented when Nirmal DSP Manohar Reddy pacified the demonstrators assuring to convey their problems to higher authorities.After he assured them that an inquiry would be ordered into the alleged police role in the death, the relatives took the body to Kista Naik Thanda to perform the last rites.Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Pembi suspecting clashes to take place in the village.
