Hanamkonda: The TRS government, which was very keen to increase the salaries of Ministers and MLAs, has been neglecting the long pending demand of increasing mess charges, alleged TNSF leaders.Due to negligent attitude of the State government, the social welfare hostels in Telangana were in a bad state. As a result poor students belonging to SC/ST/BC communities were unable stay at the hostels to continue their studies, complained the state vice president of Telugu Nadu Students Federation, J Santhosh Naik. Under the aegis of the federation, a large number of inmates of social welfare hostels have begged in the streets at Ambedkar centre in Hanamkonda on Sunday. They demanded immediate measures to improve conditions at social welfare hostels.

The students were not even supplied bed sheets, Santhosh Naik told press persons. None in the government was concerned to look into the malpractices in supplying fine rice to the hostels. Coarse rice which was polished to look like fine rice was being supplied to social welfare hostels, the TNSF leader alleged.

Similarly, many hostel buildings were in dilapidated conditions, while several others lacking proper sanitary conditions and bathrooms, water facility. If the lives of poorer sections were not bettered how the state could witness development, Naik posed. TNSF leaders Margam Mahesh, B Rajesh Naik, M Venkatesh, Sandeep, Veeranna, Samar Teja, Shaganti Rakesh and others were present. If the government failed to address the issues a state-wide agitation would be launched, they warned.
