Bhongir: Director General of Jails V K Singh said that Jails department was already declared corruption-free, and stringent action would be initiated against officials found indulging in corruption and irregularities.

Speaking to the media at R and B Guest House at Bhongir, Singh announced Rs 5,000 cash reward to those who would bring the corrupt deals of Jail officials to his notice.

Stating that they were aimed at turning jails as social service centre, Singh informed that Jails dept has sent proposals to the State government for 40 acre of land at the new district headquarters and filling up of vacancies in the department.

Stating that the department officials were actively participating in the programmes taken up by the government such as Swachh Telangana, the director general stated that they were contemplating to set up Ayurvedic villages in collaboration with NGOs to provide jobs to released prisoners The officials on the day inspected the sub-jail at Bhongir town and verified the files.

He has interacted with the inmates and received feedback from them. Sub-Jail Superintendent Venkateshwar Rao and district Sub-Jails Officer Arjun Rao accompanied him during his visit.
