​Khammam: The 120th birth anniversary of the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose was celebrated on a grand note here in Khammam City by the representatives of the Yuvajana Sangala Samithi and Smiley Women Society on Monday.
The representatives of both the organisations paid rich floral tributes to Netaji. Speaking on the occasion, the president of Yuvajana Sangala Samithi Jakkula Venkataramana said Netaji was a great freedom fighter whose defiant patriotism made him a hero and inspired many Indians to participate in the freedom fight to get rid of the British from the country.
“He was the person who did not fear of imprisonment and hanging by British during their reign. Instead, he involved in the freedom fight with more enthusiasm and with patriotism sending the messages of warning to the British that such actions would not suppress the fight for freedom,” said Venkataramana.
He further added Netaji opposed the non-violence, and said it would make the nation lazy. “He gave a call to the youth of the nation with slogans like “Give me your blood and I will give you independence” and “Freedom is not given, it is taken” which motivated millions of youth across the country to participate in the freedom fight,” he said.
The National Youth Award winner Bandarupalli Lakshmaiah said youth by taking Netaji as an ideal must fight against the social evils and corruption in the country in order to build a better society.
Smiley Women Association chief Jakkampudi Swarna, representatives of Yuvajana Sangala Samithi Puppala Krishna Rao, Padma, Priyanka, Anusha, Madhavi and Shravani were present along with others.
Meanwhile in Nalgonda, District Revenue Development Officer Venkata Chary advised the youth and students to follow and propagate the ideals of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose.
On Monday, leaders of various political parties and organisations garlanded the statue of the revolutionary freedom fighter and paid rich tributes to him on the occasion of latter’s 120th birth anniversary celebrations, organised by District Akhil Baharatiya Vidyardhi Parishad (ABVP) unit at Bus Stand Centre in Nalgonda.
Speaking on the occasion, RDO Venkata Chary felt Netaji’s life and principles should be followed by the present generations. “Netaji fought against British to bring the freedom,” he informed.
State leader of Treasury Employees Union Karnati Vijay Kumar requested the government to include lessons on the life of Subash Chandra Bose in the textbooks of school students to inculcate patriotism in them.
BJP district main leaders Nookala Narsimha Reddy, Bandaru Prasad in their speech informed that Subash Chandra Bose formed Azad Hind Fauj and played a key role in freedom struggle.
