Warangal: Adding glitter to GWMC’s Swachh Sarvekshan Survey-2017, Jabardasth fame Racha Ravi has appealed youth and students to actively engage in the survey to make the city stand at top in the cleanliness assessment.

He along with GWMC Mayor N Narender has attended awareness programmes at CKM College, Vasavi Arya Vysya Bhavan and met members of several self-help groups (SHGs) in Warangal on Monday.

Ravi asked the students to associate more and more with the survey and download ‘Swachhata App’ and dial the toll free ‘Swachhta Helpline 1969’ and press 1 ensuring better scoring and ranking to the city. He explained how the call has to be made.

For cities to continue their contribution and provide quality of life to citizens, urban cleanliness was of central importance, the artist said with comic anecdotes during his address to the students.

If the city tops in the cleanliness survey it would augment the growth of the city on many fronts and hence every student should participate in the survey and ask their family members and friends do the same, he suggested.

Mayor Narender stated that efforts were being made to develop the city as a model one. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has been giving top priority to Warangal development and thus made Rs 300 budgetary allocation to the city annually.

Achieving better ranking in Swachh Sarvekshan Survey could boost the image of the city, which was already selected for prestigious projects like AMRUT, HRIDAY, Smart City Mission and Heritage City, he noted.

During the last year survey, 72 cities took part and now 500 cities were taking part hence there would be tough competition. Therefore extra efforts should be put up by the citizens of Warangal by giving positive feedback to score maximum marks of the total 2,000 marks.

Citizens could post photos of unhygienic places in their localities on Swachhata App and they would be informed of action taken by respective personnel in specific time period. Using toll free number 1969, citizens could also seek information about the ways of participating in cleanliness mission, the Mayor said.
