In order to address the issues and watering of planted saplings planted under Haritha Haram programme in the district, Collector Surendra Mohan has come up with an idea of organising a Green Day on every Friday, akin to that of Grievance Day.
Suryapet: In order to address the issues and watering of planted saplings planted under Haritha Haram programme in the district, Collector Surendra Mohan has come up with an idea of organising a Green Day on every Friday, akin to that of Grievance Day.
The two-and-a-half-hour-long Green Day programme will be launched by the Collector on Friday. As a part of the programme, on every Friday between 9 am and 11.30 am, officials and staff of concerned departments in the district will water the plants apart from checking the plant surroundings, fencing them and cleaning their premises in all government offices, educational institutes and also along the roads of Gram Panchayat and highways.
In this connection, the Collector directed the district officials to motivate public representatives and people to take part Green Day mission and protect the saplings planted near their houses and in villages to make Suryapet a green district.
He also directed municipal officials and chairmans' of the respective municipal councils to play an active role in the mission and make the programme a grand success.
Speaking to The Hans India, the Collector informed that in first phase of Haritha Haram, 91 lakh saplings were planted in four constituencies. Of the 91 lakh, recently 8 lakh dead saplings were replaced by new ones.
Following the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao during his recent visit to Suryapet and in Collectors’ meeting conducted in Hyderabad, the district administration has decided to pay special attention towards the plants survival, he said, adding that Green Day was conceptualised for caring and watering the plants.
He expressed his confidence that in 2017, with the help of all people and public representatives, the district administration will definitely achieve cent per cent plantation target of 1 crore 30 lakh.
