Though the TRS government has allocated huge funds for development of Yadadri, Bhadradri and other temples in the state, it had left the 11th century historic monolith Ganesh idol, located in Avancha village of Timmajipeta mandal of Nagarkunrool district, in gross neglect with the idol being exposed to sun and rain.
Jadcherla: Though the TRS government has allocated huge funds for development of Yadadri, Bhadradri and other temples in the state, it had left the 11th century historic monolith Ganesh idol, located in Avancha village of Timmajipeta mandal of Nagarkunrool district, in gross neglect with the idol being exposed to sun and rain.
According to the legend, an 11th century western Chalukyan ruler Tailampudu, who ruled his kingdom from capital Gulbarga in Karnataka, ordered sculpting the monolith Ganesh idol. But, he died untimely leading to the suspension of the sculpting work.
Since then, the idol and its premises has been under neglect. Over a period of time, people realised the significance of the idol and made the whole world know about its importance through media.
Earlier, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who represented the Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha Constituency, offered puja to the idol and assured people to build a temple for the monolith structure. Three years ago, the TRS came to power and the State government allocated huge sums of money for development of the temples.
However, the TRS has failed to keep its promise of building the temple for the monolith idol. Even the promise of native TRS leader and Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy who promised to build a temple for the deity failed to materialise.
Meanwhile, the locals have been demanding the local MLA Janardhan Reddy, Minister Dr Lakshma Reddy and the Chief Minister to visit the place and build a temple so that it would become a most soughtafter temple in the State.
