Hanamkonda: The BJP’s week-long Telangana Vimochana Yatra, taken up seeking to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day officially on September 17, is scheduled to enter Warangal district on Saturday (September 2).
The party state president K Laxman and Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya will take part in the rally and address a public meeting to be held at Amaradhamam, a martyrs’ memorial at Parkal in Warangal Rural district on the day. The party Warangal urban district and rural district units have made elaborate arrangements for the event. There would be a massive bike rally with 1,000 bikes from Rampur to Arepally on the outskirts of Warangal followed by a public meeting at 2 pm at Parkal.
Warangal Urban district president Rao Padma, Rural district president A Ashok Reddy and state general secretary G Premender Reddy have appealed the party workers and sympathisers to take part in the yatra in large numbers.
The leaders said that the TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao during the statehood movement often demanded for official celebration of the Liberation Day on September 17. But after assuming power he ignored his own demand, he criticised.
Ashok Reddy informed that the tour would cover all the villages and districts, where the people were killed by the Nizam army of Razakars. Since very long the BJP has been demanding that the State government must celebrate Telangana Liberation Day officially but the government was not responding.
The party’s yatra was aimed at building up public pressure on the government in support of the demand. It seems that the CM was undermining the demand to please his political ally MIM party. The governments in Karnataka and Maharashtra were celebrating the event officially, he said.
The party also would organise massive public meeting at Nizamabad on September 17, where Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh would address the public. The party leaders G Premender Reddy, S Jaipal, K Trilokeshwar and others released a publicity poster of the Vimochana Yatra.
