Old City colony waiting for the prize money for 2 years

The colony is well connected, the Falaknuma railway station is at a distance of 1.5 km and the RGIA 15 km. The major shopping centres are at Shah-Ali-Banda and historical Charminar, 3 km away. The colony is surrounded by Phool Bagh, Alinagar Payeem Bagh and Sattar Bagh colonies. The colony has a Mosque, Borston School, Jawed Mission School and a Goshala (cow shelter). True to its name the colony has 40 feet Cement Concrete(CC) and Bituminous / Asphalt(BT)roads flanked by greenery on either side.

They are assisted by four executive committee members who conduct periodical meetings to take up development works to resolve the issues of the residents. Speaking to Hyderabad Hans Mohammad Mohuddin explained that they have various committees to look after the different needs and development activities of the residential community. “We have implemented the garbage segregation process and have put it in use for several years. Since we began, we are making concerted efforts to protect environment and its beauty. In reality, our colony is considered as a backward area, but as we had received 3rd place and prize money of Rs 5 lakh from the municipality we see it as a matter of pride”.

The colony has also set an example by contributing Rs 4.5 lakh, two years ago for the aid of the 2009 flood victims of Kurnool. In regards to the future, Mohd Basith Khan, joint secretary, explained that they had plans to make their colony a gated community and install CC cameras. “Dog menace at an all time high, roads need re-carpeting, street lights are not functioning, traffic police are to be posted at the school junctions to prevent accidents and to regulate the traffic,” he adds.
