US distinction for city surgeon
Dr P Raghu Ram, director, KIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases and president elect, Association of Breast Surgeons of India, has been invited to address delegates at the 16thAnnual Congress of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He will talk about the first-of-its-kind large scale population based Breast Cancer Screening Programme being implemented in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Dr P Raghu Ram, director, KIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases and president elect, Association of Breast Surgeons of India, has been invited to address delegates at the 16thAnnual Congress of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He will talk about the first-of-its-kind large scale population based Breast Cancer Screening Programme being implemented in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The programme is aimed specifically at detecting breast cancer in the early stages amongst underprivileged women. The Congress is being held in Orlando from April 29 to May 4.This is the first time, ever since the inception of the American Society of Breast Surgeons 16 years ago, a surgeon practicing in India is being invited to deliver an invited lecture at the congress.
The steering committee planning the scientific programme at the ASBS Congress has evinced interest in the low cost Breast Cancer Screening Programme and have placed this talk in the prestigious Health Policy Session during the congress.Dr Raghuram will be sharing the dais with well known breast cancer specialists in the USA such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York, Mayo Clinic in Rochester and MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Texas.
