About 15 Army Officers’ wives residing in Vayupuri and Sainikpuri in Secunderabad, on Sunday collected Rs 65,000 by putting up a jumble sale at the Air Force Officers’ Cooperative Housing Society.

About 15 Army Officers’ wives residing in Vayupuri and Sainikpuri in Secunderabad, on Sunday collected Rs 65,000 by putting up a jumble sale at the Air Force Officers’ Cooperative Housing Society.

Sudha Gorthi who is the brainchild behind the effort said, “The response was good and the proceeds would go to three organisations that work with orphans and mentally challenged.”

Anurag, an organisation that works with mentally handicapped children, Videhi Ashram for girls at Saroornagar and Balajyoti Orphanage for boys near Clock Tower in Secunderabad would be benefitted.

Close to 20-25 families donated old paintings, clocks, books, magazines, novels, travel bags, shoes and curios. The sale began at 10 a.min the morning and went on till 4 pm.
