The Revolutionary Writers’ Association (Virasam) on Monday organised a meeting in Sundarayya Vignana Kendram with the slogan to strengthen the agitation for securing SC categorisation and to fight the curbs imposed on the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS). 

Musheerabad: The Revolutionary Writers’ Association (Virasam) on Monday organised a meeting in Sundarayya Vignana Kendram with the slogan to strengthen the agitation for securing SC categorisation and to fight the curbs imposed on the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS).

The issues discussed by speakers included the various commissions set up on SC categorisation, effects of the agitation on literarture, the role of women in the agtitation and restrictions on the agitation.

Among the speakers was MRPS Founder-President Manda Krishna Madida who pointed out that the constitutional reservations framed by Dr B R Ambedkjar were outdated and no longer valid. He said while Dalit SC judge Kannan was jailed for making comments against the collegeum, while four judges who raised a banner of revolt were being

protected.Association president Varavara Rao stated that the constitution would continue to oppose the just demands and that no political party was opposing the SC categorisation fearing a threat to its existence.

He said while balladeer Gadhar had supported SC categorisation admitting that injustice has been done to the Madiga community, no leader was willing to admit that injustice was done to the Adivasis. Rao stated that the CPI(ML) Maoist party had extended its support to the MRPS bandh called on March 13. Prof. Kasi presided over the meeting attended by several Virasam and MRPS leaders.
