Siddipet: Siddipet Trainee Collector Avinshyanth Panda flagged off the rally on Menstrual Hygiene Day on Monday here. The rally was intended to expel the societal misconceptions and misunderstandings and maintaining secrecy regarding the menstrual cycle among women. There is a pressing need to discuss the rights of women and their development while educating about talking about the so called taboo openly in the society, noted the trainee IAS.

The IAS also said that the Day was observed globally to bring awareness on hygienic practices during menstruation and to expel the myths and misconceptions of menstruation in the women which is creating social constraints and becoming an obstacle for the overall development of the women in the society.
With a slogan of this year ‘break the barriers and let’s talk freely’, the program’s main intension is social restrictions and health problems faced by the women and adolescent girls during menstruation and working for the women’s rights and empowerment. The program was also participated by DRO, PD_DRDA & DWO and District Mother and child care department, Department of welfare of handicapped and Anganwadi workers and ANMs.
