In a bid to provide immediate assistance to any passenger or visitor hit by sudden cardiac arrest, seven Cardiac Emergency Resuscitation Stations (ERS)have been set up at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), here.

Samshabad: In a bid to provide immediate assistance to any passenger or visitor hit by sudden cardiac arrest, seven Cardiac Emergency Resuscitation Stations (ERS)have been set up at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), here. These stations have been set up at strategic locations across the Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) - two at the domestic Security Hold Area (SHA), one each at international SHA, check-in area, domestic arrivals, international arrivals and the airport village.

Each Cardiac Emergency Resuscitation Station at the airport has an Automated External Defibrillator, an Emergency Bag with Intubation; Suction and other essential equipment, an Oxygen Cylinder, well-equipped first aid kit and a stretcher all packed inside the compact cabinet. During cardiac emergency, a trained staff can access the ERS box and provide treatment to the patient. Regular trainings are being imparted to the airport community members to operate the Cardiac ERS.

As of now over 100 volunteers from across the stakeholders in the airport has been trained for operating AED and providing CPR in case of any emergency. Recently, one crash cart has also been introduced loaded with life-saving equipment near the domestic arrivals’ baggage conveyor belt to address any medical exigency.

The airport also has a 24X7 medical center with 17-bed emergency treatment center. The center has well-trained doctors, paramedics and pharmacy available round the clock. There are three ambulances fitted with advanced life-saving equipment available within the airport premises round the clock.

Under its ‘Passenger is Prime’ programme, Hyderabad International Airport has been leading passenger focused initiatives involving the active participation and support of the entire Hyderabad Airport community. Some of the key initiatives under this programme included - a unique security express check area for the domestic passengers traveling only with hand baggage; Vertilift at domestic Arrivals for senior citizens and passengers with reduced mobility, among others.
