Musheerabad: Local MLA Dr K Laxman on Monday appealed to the State to establish a government junior college in the constituency, as assured by a minister in March. Speaking at the free notebook distribution function in Kavadiguda government school by Bharat Sevashram to 700 poor students, he stated that the constituency lacked a junior college. Parents of these students were finding it tough to pay fee in private junior colleges after taking loans.

Dr Laxman recalled that since getting elected for the first time in 1999, he has been appealing to the government to set up a junior college locally. He cautioned against neglect of government schools, although the focus on Gurukul institutions was welcome. He called for steps to check fleecing of fee by corporate institutions. The BJP leader said following an appeal by CM K Chandrsekhar Rao to all MLAs to contribute Rs 1 crore each for developing government schools he had set apart the amount for the Kavadiguda school, but the expected works were not taking place.

He complimented school development secretary Narsing Rao and member for developing the school. Among those present were Bharat Sevashram Hyderabad president Swamy Muniswaranand, vice-president Padma Mani, BJP leaders Venkatesh, Mahender Babu, Devadas, Gandhinagar Inspector Srinivas.
