Vikarabad: Unable to overcome the debt trap in which he was steeped in, a 46-year-old farmer, who attempted suicide by consuming pesticide, died while undergoing treatment at Government hospital here on Tuesday. He was identified as Pasala Mallayya, a resident of Kadicharla of Nawabpet mandal.

He was survived by wife, a son and two daughters. He owned an acre of land. He disposed of a portion of it to clear some of the debts. He ran into debts up to Rs 5 lakh. He became demoralized as his entire earnings go to service the debts.
