Maheshwaram: Summer like situation prevailed in Kandukur and Maheshwaram mandals as the crops are not in a position to yield good produce due to absence of rains. Expecting good rains in the season, farmers sowed maize, cotton, jowar and other commercial and non-commercial crops in their fields.
The maize crop sowed in peak summer dried without rains. Seeing three-day rains in July second week, farmers sowed the seeds. But their efforts failed and they lost hopes on the crops. The sky is filled with clouds, but there is no indication of rain. The farmers are praying Rain God in an effort to save their crops.
