Hyderabad: Stage has been set for Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP national election committee chairman Narendra Modi’s much talked about youth meeting ‘Nava Bharat Yuva Bheri’ scheduled for Sunday. The venue, Lal Bahadur Stadium has been decked up for Modi’s first major rally after taking over as the chief of the party election committee.
The saffron party is expecting a crowd of 1.5 lakh for the meeting. The stadium seating capacity (in stands) is around 35,000. However, chairs were laid in the entire ground right up to the main dais to accommodate the rest. Although the meeting would be held from 2-6 pm, Modi is scheduled to address the gathering around 4 pm.
The party got a huge response for its unique canvas method adopted for this particular meeting. Thousands of youth enrolled as delegates by paying the organizers a nominal fee of Rs. 5 by online and offline registration methods. Apart from launching a special web site (www.modifyap.in) for the meeting, BJP IT wing took to aggressive campaigning even on social networking sites and even sent e-mail and sms invitations urging youngsters to join in their initiative for changing the face of the nation. Amount collected in the form of entry fees will be donated for relief and rehabilitation of people affected by Uttarakhand floods.
BJP former president M Venkaiah Naidu and other senior leaders of the party visited the venue and overseen the arrangements of the meeting on Saturday.
Talking to reporters, Naidu stated that BJP would kick-start its ‘Congress mukt Bharat’ campaign for the next general elections with this programme. “Narendra Modi would take up challenges faced by the nation including the State of Andhra Pradesh and suggest alternatives and answers to overcome them. Accordingly, different types of programmes have been prepared to reach out to voters in all 543 parliamentary constituencies in the country,” he said.
