Hyderabad: In the course of ongoing unrest and protests for and against Telangana at government offices in Hyderabad over the past few days, the city police today warned of initiating stern action against outsiders participating in the agitations. Outsiders other than government employees including political leaders will not be allowed to participate in protests at government offices as it may lead to tension as pro and anti-Telangana supporters may be at odds, Hyderabad Police Commissioner, Anurag Sharma told media at a press conference on Tuesday.
Employees from Seemandhra and Telangana almost came to exchange blows during their protests at government offices at Vidyut Soudha and Jala Soudha over the past few days. Democratically, the employees can organise peaceful protests but we will not give permission for outsiders' participation in the agitations, which may impede the peaceful atmosphere of the city.
Stern action will be taken against violators of law and order, the Hyderabad police chief said. Referring to a question on Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers(APNGO) proposed meeting and rally in Hyderabad scheduled for September 7, Sharma said a decision in this regard will be taken depending on the circumstances. Prohibitory orders are already in force in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad with police putting a check on public meetings, processions and gatherings on roads or public places and carrying of arms, weapons and stones.
