Hyderabad: Chaos and pandemonium reigned at the Press Club in Somajiguda on Wednesday at the Visalandhra Mahasabha’s press meet despite a heavy police bandobust. As Visalandhra members K Raviteja, Srinivas and others were explaining about the ongoing agitation in the Seemandhra region and why the state should not be bifurcated, journalists from Telangana confronted the Visalandhra leaders.
They asked how could Visalandhra members demand Samaikyandhra when there was no one from Telangana in their movement. At this point, one of the members on the dais claimed that he was from Karimnagar and was an integrationist. This sparked off strong protests from the T journalists who questioned him as to where he was when thousands of youth committed suicides for the cause of separate state.
Amidst the pandemonium that followed, the policemen entered the hall and one of them started video graphing the situation there. This angered the media further and they took strong objection to the presence of the police. Journalists even threatened to walk out if police did not move out. Following this, the police quietly withdrew from the hall and the Visalandhra members also abruptly called off the press conference. Visalandhra Mahasabha leader Parkala Prabhakar was expected to address the media, he did not turn up.
