Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on Friday. The 56-year-old Ramana will succeed Chief Justice D Murugesan, who retired in June. Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed has been the acting Chief Justice since then.

Hyderabad: Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on Friday. The 56-year-old Ramana will succeed Chief Justice D Murugesan, who retired in June. Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed has been the acting Chief Justice since then. Justice Ramana had enrolled as an advocate in 1983 and has practiced in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, central and state administrative tribunals and the Supreme Court. He has specialised in constitutional, criminal and inter-state river laws. He was appointed as a permanent judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in June 2000.
