Salesman held for duping businessman of 60 lakh

According to police, the accused Mohammed Rafiuddin alias Rafi along with two of his associates lured one Shaik Ashfaq Hussain to invest the money promising huge profits in the last two years.

Hyderabad: Bahadurpura police on Friday arrested a motorbike salesman for allegedly duping a businessman to the tune of Rs 60 lakh, at Tadbun crossroads. Gold ornaments of weighing about 27 tolas besides two cars were recovered from his possession. According to police, the accused Mohammed Rafiuddin alias Rafi along with two of his associates lured one Shaik Ashfaq Hussain to invest the money promising huge profits in the last two years.

Two of his associates are absconding. When he failed to repay the amount, he burgled gold ornaments weighing about 27 tolas from a residence. He mortgaged the stolen property in Manappuram Finance Limited at Bahadurpura for Rs 4.59 lakh. Following increased pressure from Hussain for repayment of the amount, Rafi forged documents of his house, which was registered on his mother’s name, with an intention to sell it.

Later, he lured Mohammed Akbar Ali Khan of Murad Nagar and collected Rs 17.10 lakh for selling the property. In addition, he borrowed a Santro car from Mohammed Junaiduddin of Edi Bazaar promising him of higher rate within two or three days. The accused confessed to have committed the offences in order to lead a lavish lifestyle. He further added that he took the assistance of his colleagues and friends.
