Hyderabad: Minister for Information and Technology Ponnala Laxmaiah said that the software exports from the state in 2012-13 touched Rs 51,285 crore. Addressing the mediapersons on Saturday, Laxmaiah said that about 3.27 lakh persons obtained direct employment and another 10.5 lakh were provided indirect employment. He said that performance of IT industries in second grade cities like Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Kakinada has been improving year to year.
He said that the turnover of software companies in Vizag touched Rs 1445 crore with 17,000 employment generation and the turnover of Vijayawada is around Rs 115 crore and Kakinada Rs 61 crore. Referring to the growth rate of software business, he said that the growth rate of software exports from Andhra Pradesh registered as 26.1 per cent against 23.5 at all India level. He said that the software companies in Andhra Pradesh have been extending services to various companies in USA, Middle East, Europe and other countries. He said that the software exports to USA is 75 per cent in total exports from the State.
