Hyderabad: Telangana JAC has announced slew of programmes including ‘Sakala Jana Bheri’ sadassu on September 29 for exerting pressure on the Union Government to create Telangana with ten districts including Hyderabad. T JAC chief Kodandaram and other members discussed for close to six hours to chalk out their action plan at the extended steering committee meeting held at a private function hall here on Saturday. TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was expected to attend the meeting skipped the meeting and instead sent party legislators Etela Rajender and S Venugopala Chary.
Later briefing the media, Kodandaram said that TJAC would organise ‘Sakala Jana Bheri’ on September 29 here in the city to ensure that Congress high command heard the voice of the Telangana public once again. He further stated that they would not agree for the proposal of ten-year joint capital status for Hyderabad. Instead, Hyderabad should be made a temporary capital for some period until arrangements were made in the new state, professor added.
To mobilise public in large numbers for this meeting, TJAC decided to conduct ‘Sannahaka Rana Bheri’ meetings in each of the ten district headquarters in the next two weeks. It also called upon public to engage in signature campaign, padayatras and distribution of pamphlets at Ganesh Pandals in the coming days.
The steering committee felt that Telangana Congress leaders neither made efforts to beat back the conspiracies of their Seemandhra counterparts nor exerted pressure on the Congress high command to expedite the Telangana process for the last one and half month, Kodandaram said.
The date for the New Delhi trip would be decided in the programme committee meeting likely to be held either on Sunday or Monday. TJAC also expressed support for MRPS’ meeting on September 26 at Guntur and BJP’s Telangana Garjana in Mahabubnagar on September 28.
Meanwhile representatives of TRS, BJP, CPI-ML (New Democracy)-Chandranna and Rayala Bose groups decried the Congress party for going slow on Telangana process after the CWC announcement on July 30. BJP leader T Rajeshwar Rao demanded the Centre to dismiss the biased Kiran Kumar Reddy government and keep the Assembly in suspended animation for smooth division of the state.
Mallepalli Lakshmaiah, G Deviprasad, C Vittal, Addanki Dayaker (TJAC), Etela Rajender, S Venugopala Chary (TRS), T Rajeshwar Rao, Ashok Yadav, Sudhaker Sharma (BJP), K Govardhan and P Ranga Rao from the left parties besides representatives of ten district JACs took part in the meeting.
