Vikarabad: Former home minister Sabita Indra Reddy said here on Monday that the proposal for establishing national prisons academy at Vikarabad was pending with the Central government. She addressed the newsmen along with the former minister Dr Chandrasekhar at District Libraries Association office. The former home minister said that she had met Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy regarding the proposal recently and appraised him that Rs. 10 crore was needed for the construction of the academy.
She formally welcomed Dr Chandrasekhar and his followers into Congress party. She hailed the former minister’s contribution to the Telangana agitation. She said that Telangana would become reality with the initiative taken by the national parties. She said that Rangareddy district would play a prominent role in the new state of Telangana. Recalling the services of her late husband Indra Reddy to the Telangana agitation, she said that she was proud that she was wife of such great leader.
When the newsmen took her notice the non-supply of Manjira water to Rangareddy, the former home minister assured that she would take up the matter to the notice of the officials. Former minister Dr Chandrasekhar said that Vikarabad would become a separate district after Telangana was formed. If necessary an agitation would be launched for that purpose, he added. He underlined the importance of Food Security Act and appealed to the people to cooperate in the implementation of the enactment.
TTD Board former member Kale Yadaiah, DCCB chairman Lakshma Reddy, district libraries association chairman MD Hafiz, former chairman G Lakshman, Congress leader and advocate Govardhan Reddy and others were present.
