Youth attempts suicide in PS

Hyderabad: Languishing allegedly in illegal custody for nearly 10 days, a youth accused in a theft case made a suicide attempt in Chilakalguda police station on Monday. Shiva (26), resident of the same locality picked up by the police for questioning in connection with the case, had reportedly consumed toilet cleaning acids. As he was writhing in pain, he was shifted to the Gandhi hospital. The youth resorted to the extreme step as his father was also summoned to the station in connection with the case.

Enraged with the treatment meted out to the youth, residents of the area laid siege to the police station and staged a protest demanding action against the police responsible for the incident. Finding the youth missing from the station, they grilled the police for his whereabouts.Later they came to know that the youth was shifted to Gandhi hospital as he attempted to end his life in the premises.
