After nearly 16 months of jail life, YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to be released from prison on Tuesday. Jagan was arrested on May 27 2012 in the dispropotionate assets case. He was lodged at the Chanchalguda jail ever since.

It's worth mentioning here that Jagan's bail petition had been rejected by court six times. The CBI had contended that Jagan would influence witness and tamper witness if let out.

This time, however, the court granted bail on the grounds that the CBI probe was over and also because of the fact that the CBI was unable to produce evidence to substantiate their fear that Jagan would interfere with the smooth probe."

Long wait over
For the thousands of YSRCP supporters, Jagan's fans and his family members it's been an eternal wait. Naturally, the bail news has come as a huge relief. As Jagan's mother Vijayamma said: "He was in jail for almost 16 months. We had been suffering since the death of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. This has been our biggest joy in four years.” She is thrilled to have her son back and can't contain her joy. It's a feast, she adds.
A composed Bharathi, Jagan's wife maintained: "God was with us and we kept going."
While Jagan's sister Sharmila too expressed joy, his mother thanked the people for standing by them and said: "With his release we hope that good things will happen to the family, party and the state"
What next?
Jagan's return is a huge morale boost for the YSR Congress party which is strengthening its hold in the Seemandhra region. Although the court has asked Jagan not to leave Hyderabad, Jagan is expected to file a memo in the court seeking permission to tour seemandhra region in his capacity as party president.
It's a known fact that though Jagan was behind bars, he didn't keep mum. He was very much involved in party activities. He was busy following developments in the state, held meetings with party personnel and also chalking out strategies to decide party's course of action. Back home, Jagan will work towards bettering his party fortunes in the state, especially in the Seemandhra region.
His sister Sharmila has also done the groundwork through her Maro Praja Prasthanam padayatra where she covered 3000 kms across the state and also her ongoing 'Samaikya Sankharavam' bus yatra.
If Jagan is indeed granted permission to carry out his tour, then it will indeed help his party in the upcoming elections.
It remains to be seen what strategy Jagan will adopt to ensure victory for his party.
