Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reviewed the performance of RTC on October 16. He said that all steps would be taken to ensure that passengers were safe by motivating them to travel in RTC buses.

“The transport department shall associate with the RTC in ensuring the safety of passengers by conducting special drive to prevent overloading and unsafe travel on high density illicit operation routes,” the CM said.

Transport minister Patnam Mahender Reddy reviewed the same with the transport department and RTC officials on October 21. It was decided to conduct a special drive in routes affected by illicit operations from October 29 and to monitor the progress daily and conduct a weekly video conference every Tuesday.

The transport department officials in all districts of Telangana have been actively participating in this exercise from October 29. During the first two weeks 9,054 checks were conducted, resulting in ensuring 87,000 more passengers travelled by RTC buses.

In this connection, the vice chairman and managing director conducted a video conference with regional officers to review the region-wise special drive activity and issued guidelines for improving the effectiveness of the special drive.
