Addressing media persons after launching the campaign ‘Each One, Teach One Day’, Venkatesh Vijayraghavan, chief executive officer, Bharti Airtel, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, said, "According to estimates, India is the third largest in the world when it comes to internet subscribers and boasts of a whopping 250 million internet users.

While the sheer scale of the market indicates growth in absolute numbers, India’s internet penetration stands as low as 25 per cent when compared with countries like the USA and China that stand at 85 per cent and 46 per cent respectively. Digital literacy can play a truly transformational role in enabling the lives of millions in India and help our country realise its potential towards becoming a knowledge driven economy.”

“Our associates and employees will directly meet customers and educate them about activating the internet on mobile phones using a simple technique `Dial 111'. Our recent launch of ‘One Touch Internet’ is the simplest way for the first time users to learn the internet. Simple and intuitive interface specially designed to make the internet discovery easy for the first time users. The platform is currently available in English, Hindi, Telugu and eight other regional languages,” he added.
