Indian-American Anumolu Subba Rao is a leading example of someone who has made the Telugu community proud by excelling in the field of business. Subba Rao was in Hyderabad recently to participate in an event called ‘Chaitanya Sravanthi’ organised by the Members of Telugu Association of North America (TANA).

Indian-American Anumolu Subba Rao is a leading example of someone who has made the Telugu community proud by excelling in the field of business. Subba Rao was in Hyderabad recently to participate in an event called ‘Chaitanya Sravanthi’ organised by the Members of Telugu Association of North America (TANA). He was felicitated by education minister Jagadiswar Reddy, TDP leader Errabali Dayakar and the members of TANA for his philanthropic activities for the cause of the Telugu speaking people.
Subba Rao hails from Long Island in New York and is the President and CEO of a technology services company ASR International Corporation. His biggest claim to fame was when he was awarded Ellis Island Medal of Honor which is the highest civilian award in the US for immigrants. Subba Rao was honoured for his contribution in the development of the United State of America.
He also has the unique distinction of being the only Indian to have the dual honour of being cited by the US Congress and also the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Subba Rao was lauded for the contributions made by him and ASR International Corporation towards homeland security in USA.
The cost-effective technology and systems deployed by ASR to protect the nation's airports, waterways, railroads and highways were specifically mentioned in Congressional citation. Both the United States House of Representatives and Senate have officially recognised the Ellis Island Medals of Honor and the recipients are read into the Congressional Record. The medal recognises recipients for outstanding contributions to their communities, their nation and the world.
A native of Vijayawada, Subba Rao came to the USA in 1969, obtained a Masters in Industrial Engineering and also an MBA degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. He attended several Advanced Management Programmes at Defence Systems Management College, Harvard University and Wharton School of Business Management and also graduated from the Owner/President Management Programme (OPM) at Harvard Business School (HBS).
Subba Rao is the recipient of several awards which recognise his business acumen, professional achievements, contributions to the community and his support of philanthropic activities in USA and India. He is a role model and a source of inspiration for the Indian community in the USA.
He is often interviewed by the media to elicit his views on business related issues and is quoted extensively in the local, national and international media as an authority on several high technology and management areas. Subba Rao has made several guest appearances on appeared on CNN, News 12 and has been quoted extensively in Newsday, LI Business news etc. He serves on the advisory board of leading academic institutions in NY – Adelphi and SUNY- Stony Brook.
