Inspiring students, primary duty of a teacher: Konda Vishweshwar

“Inspiring students is the primary duty of a teacher. Teachers go beyond their duty of teaching and inspire students, as individuals and as human beings,” said MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. He was addressing the students of Ghulam Ahmed College of Education (GACE) during their College Day celebrations.

The College Day also marked the silver jubilee of the M Ed course at the institution. Elucidating the responsibility of teaching to future teachers, he said that a history teacher teaches more than dates, a math teacher more than numbers and so on.

Reddy, who taught as an adjunct faculty at a college in the United States, said that his experience of teaching twelfth standard students of rural areas in his constituency was his most cherished experience. He considered it a bigger success than all his achievements, including his political triumphs.

Later, he presented gold medals to Aleem Jafri, Shameem Begum, Zeenath Jahan and Zeenath Jahan, among others, for securing top ranks in the university. Zafar Javeed, secretary of Sultan ul Uloom Education Society, congratulated the students on their success and urged them to take up the responsibility of teaching to shape future generations.

The event was presided over by Khan Lateef Mohammed Khan, chairman of Sultan ul Uloom Education Society. Trustee Dr Mir Akbar Ali Khan, vice-chairman Mohammed Waliullah, principal of GACE Dr Vibha Asthana, and chairman of GACE SA Wahab and others were present on the occasion.
