SCR nets Rs 8.62 Cr from ticketless travellers

The South Central Railway (SCR) netted an amount of Rs 8.62 cr in January by penalising ticketless travellers. In all 2.54 lakh cases were detected which is 7.3 per cent higher when compared to the cases detected in the corresponding period of last year. These include 83,238 cases of travel without ticket; 87,740 cases of irregular travel and 83,098 cases of unbooked luggage.

These include 83,238 cases of travel without ticket; 87,740 cases of irregular travel and 83,098 cases of unbooked luggage.

Irregular travel includes travelling on transferred ticket, adults traveling on child ticket, non senior citizen travelling on senior citizen tickets, general/season ticket holder traveling in reserved coaches etc. An amount of Rs 8.62 cr was realised from these ticketless travels, irregular travel and unbooked luggage cases towards penalty registering an increase of 16.71 per cent.
