Guruvayur Sri Krishna Mandiram, popularly known as Ayyappa Temple, in Bagh Amberpet conducted Sri Rama Navami celebrations on Saturday with all religious fervour. Carnatic music recitals were presented to mark the occasion from March 25 to 27. The last day had young musician Narendra Saradhi giving a pleasing vocal recital which lured the audience.
Narendra Saradhi, a disciple of late Sri Nookla China Satyanarayana, commenced his recital with Kharaharpriya Varnam with an attractive swarakalpana. He took the work of MS Ramachandran, “Sri Mahaganapathe” (Abhogi), as an invocation item. Then he moved on to the famous krithi of Thyagaraja “Rama Bhakthi Samrajyam” (Suddha Bangala) and presented it in tune with the lyrical text.
Another krithi “Ramachandram Bhavayami” (Vasantha) of Muthuswami Deekshitulu, Narendra dealt the phrase of Anupallavi in all its grandeur, true to the devotional thoughts enunciated in the krithi. In another work of Deekhsitulu, “Kamakshi Kamakotipeetha Vasini” (Simhendra Madyamam), Saradhi dealt the Sanskrtised text with great clarity. He took the main item in the Thodi Raga of Thyagarja, “Emi Jesitithe Nemi? Sri Rama”. He showcased his skill in rendering the swarakalpana and an astute ragalapana.
Given the Narendra Saradhi’s age, his voice is in the process of change. The anupallavi charanam “Kamamohadasulie Sri Ramuni Kattu Teliyani Varilaloh” elaborated by Narendra depicting his manodharma trait in ample measure. The accompanying instrumental musicians Komanduri Anantha Sowri Rajan on violin and Dr Paravastu Srinivasa Gopalan on mridangam gave excellent instrumental support and elevated the performance. Though Saradhi is blind, his objective is clear and his thirst for Carnatic music immense. We can hope that Naredra Saradhi will become a reputed vocalist.
