Kabul : A key leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group has been killed in an airstrike in Afghanistan's Maidan Wardak province, located west of capital Kabul city.

According to the defense officials, the ISIS leader has been identified as Mujahid, reports the Khaama Press.

Mujahid was killed along with one of his bodyguards.

However, the officials did not elaborate regarding the airstrike and whether it was carried out by the Afghan Air Force or the U.S. Forces.

It is the first time a key leader of the group has reportedly been killed near Kabul.
