Illinois (Chicago) [U.S.A.]: Chicago authorities are investigating allegations of neglect after fire, which broke out in a two-story building, claimed lives of 10 children on Sunday.

CNN quoted the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services spokesperson Alissandra Calderon as saying that the investigation began after it came to light that there were no adults in the house when the fire broke out.

A spokeswoman with the Cook County Bureau of Administration Natalia Derevyanny confirmed that eight bodies were found after building blazed while the other two 14-year-old children died this week at the hospital.

The fire started on the second floor of the building. While the first floor was empty, the second one was a home. The smoke detectors were found missing, said the fire officials.
