MP Sai Pratap tells officials to help SCs and STs

Kadapa: Rajampet MP A. Sai Pratap told the district officials concerned to resolve the problems faced by the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. Participating in an awareness camp on the 'Realization of Indiramma Dreams' programme (Indiramma Kalalu Netiki Nijam) here on Sunday, Sai Pratap said that the officials should create the right type of environment so that the scheduled castes and schedule tribes would be in a position to resolve their problems themselves. The MP said that the dalits were forced to walk 3 to 4 km everyday to get some water but they were not in a position to force the officials to take steps in laying some bore wells for them. They were not in a position to resolve their problems, he said. Sai Pratap said that members belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes were forced to take recommendation letters from the MPs or MLAs and show them to the officials to get their things done and this should change. Sai Pratap said that unless a conducive environment was created to create awareness among the SCs and STs, the aims or objectives of the SC & ST Sub-Plan would not be realized. He said that Parliament passed a law to prevent the misuse and diversion of funds allotted to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. He said that the 'Realization of Indiramma's Dreams' programme, if implemented effectively would develop the colonies of the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. Speaking on the occasion, District Collector Kona Sasidhar said that leaders of various political parties and NGO organizations should explain the benefits of the progamme to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes living in various colonies.
