Kadapa: YSR Congress Party MLA Srikanth Reddy said that the appointment of the AK Antony Committee would not serve any purpose in understanding the problems of the Seemandhra people after bifurcation as none of the committee members were proficient in Telugu. Speaking at the Collectorate along with the former Kadapa Mayor Ravindranath Reddy here on Wednesday, he accused the TDP president Chandrababu Naidu of shedding crocodile tears for the Seemandhra people. If Chandrababu was sincere, he should immediately submit his resignation and join the movement, he said.
The Samaikyandhra agitation is in full swing in Kadapa district even after 15 days with no sign of abating with youngsters, senior citizens, women, children and physically challenged persons actively participating in the movement. The joining of the AP NGOs in the agitation has given a strong fillip to the movement. In Proddutur, Mydukur, Badvel and other parts of the district, the agitation continued with increased fervour.
Nellore: All government transactions, apart from those of transport and business came to a standstill in Nellore district due to Samaikyandhra agitation. Protesting against State’s division, traders, students, employees, farmers, common people took to the roads. Financial transactions stopped as banks were closed. Employees JAC locked all government and Corporation offices after sending away all employees. All educational institutions were closed indefinitely.
The revenue administration was stalled as revenue association started protesting. Leaders and activists of Congress, TDP and YSRCP staged protests and rallies in the city on Wednesday. Gudur MLA and TDP leader Balli Durgaprasad Rao organised rasta took on NH 5 near Varagali cross road. City and rural MLAs Sridhar Krishna Reddy and Anam Vivekananda Reddy took part in the bike rally organised by Chiranjeevi Yuvata. Led by YSRCP Nellore rural in-charge Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, party leaders took up relay fast at Vedayapalem Centre.
Samaikyandhra supporters held protests and dharnas in Kota, Vakadu, Chittamuru, Saidapuram, Gudur, Kavali and other areas in the district. Effigies of Sonia Gandhi, Digvijay Singh and KCR were burnt.
Anantapuramu: With the support of common people, students, employees and political parties, the Samaikyandhra agitation is continuing with intensity in Anantapuramu district. Rallies, protests, agitations, dharnas, burning of effigies, rasta rokos and mass cooking on roads appeared everywhere in the district on Wednesday. Petrol bunks were also closed down on Wednesday in the district. All the buses in the district remained in the depots causing troubles to passengers.
The protests which took off on July 30 in Puttaparthi are still continuing. For the first time in Puttaparthi, all educational institutions, shops and other business centres closed down supporting united State. In Dharmavaram, Rayadurg, Madakasira, Kadiri and other parts of the district, people from all walks of life staged road shows in protest of UPA’s decision to form separate Telangana.
