Karimnagar : Minister for Major Irrigation P Sudharshan Reddy has said that the State Government was taking adequate steps to encourage the agriculture sector and many facilities were being provided to farmers for increasing the crop production.

Addressing the Kisan Mela organised at Polasa Regional Agriculture Research Institute in Karimnagar district on Wednesday, Minister Sudharshan Reddy said that the construction works of 62 gates on the Sripada Yellampalli project would be completed by August, 2013 and the construction of other important irrigation projects in Telangana region would be completed on a priority basis.

Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu, Government Whip Arepalli Mohan, Jagityal MLA L Ramana, former Minister T Jeevan Reddy, Husnabad MLA Praveen Reddy, NG Ranga University Vice-Chancellor A Padma Raju, Joint Collector H Arun Kumar and other officials were present.

Earlier, Minister Sudharshan Reddy laid a foundation stone for the construction of cross regulator across the Sriram Sagar Flood Flow Canal at a cost of Rs 9.63 lakh at Ramannapet village of Malyal mandal in Karimnagar district.
