Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Eatala Rajender told the doctors to provide better medical services so that faith was restored among people in Government hospitals. He participated in a review meeting on tackling swine flu at the Collectorate here on Thursday in which district officials and doctors attended.

The Minister said that people were scared of swine flu as they lack awareness about it. He stressed on the need to create awareness on swine flu among people. He asked ASHA volunteers and ANMs to raise awareness on swine flu in villages. He informed district officials to include people’s representatives in awareness programmes on swine flu.
Finance Minister said that there was no dearth of funds for purchasing medical equipment and improving basic amenities in the Government hospitals. Eatala sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the district to improve facilities in the Government hospitals. He asked the officials concerned to ensure toilets and urinals in the Government hospitals were clean.
He directed the officials concerned to take measures for preventing spread of swine flu. He gave instructions to higher officials not to sanction leave to the doctors due to swine flu threat. District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad said that posters on swine flu should be prominently displayed at bus stands, main junctions, PHCs, village panchayats, Anganwadi centres, Tahsildar and MPDO offices. She has instructed officials to distribute tablets of swine flu in all area hospitals and community health centres. Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma, Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar, Peddapalli MLA Manohar Reddy, DMHO Dr Ali and other officials were present.
