Khammam: The State General Secretary of Telangana State Municipal Workers Union, Asu Rathnam, alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao deceived the people of Telangana by not fulfilling the election promises he made to them and suppressing the municipal workers by encouraging the contract system in the State.

Speaking during a general body meeting of municipal workers held here at Giriprasad Bhavan of Khammam under the leadership of B Appa Rao and N Krishna, he said, “It is has become a habit for the Chief Minister to make all false promises to the people before going to elections and forgetting them after winning the elections.

With his mesmerising words, he is deceiving various sections of people including the poor and working class.By encouraging the contract system, the government is trying to exploit poor workers. With fewer amount of salaries, many municipal workers are living in miserable conditions.

Even after going for strike for 42 days, both the State and Central governments did not show mercy on the municipal workers,” he alleged.

He urged the people of working section to unite and start a massive movement against the State government in coming up days if the government fails to address their issues.

AITUC district president B G Climont, secretary Shingu Narasimha Rao, M Venkateshwarlu, A Gandhi, G Lakshmi Narayana, M Srinivas Rao, U Narasaiah, Ch Venkanna, V Buchaiah, Manemma and Vijaya Shoba were present along with others.
