Khammam: At a time when people are facing all kinds of troubles to exchange banned Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, the Congress workers, led by State Minority convener Md Fazal, have come up with a noble gesture to help those standing in the queues.

The Congress workers distributed food and water packets to the people standing the queues in front of the Zilla Parishad branch of the State Bank of Hyderabad. Besides this, they also helped the women, physically-challenged and old-aged persons in exchanging the cash.

Speaking on the occasion, Fazal said: “People are facing hardships as they have to stand in queues for hours together in to exchange banned notes and to draw cash from the ATMs.” He found fault with the Central government for not taking any precautionary measures before implementing demonetisation.

Fazal said whether the demonetisation move had helped to devalue the black money or not, it has affected crores of poor in the country. Modi government will have to pay for it, he warned.

Further, he questioned the Centre over its inaction against the mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy though the latter had spent hundreds of crores for his daughter’s wedding.

Senior leaders Thota Satyam, Zaheer, D Venkat Rao, Nagati Chandrasekhar, Prathap Singh, A Radhkrishna, Balaraju and Isaac Khan were among others present on the occasion.
