Kothagudem: Sarees promised by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for poor women as the State government’s gift for Bathukamma will be distributed among the beneficiaries from September 18 to 20.

Officials concerned said of the required 2,51,159 saris, half of them reached the warehouse. Meanwhile, work related to constitution of committees for distribution of sarees was going on and the rest of the saree stock was expected to arrive within two or three days.

Sircilla weavers were busy weaving the cloth and then the woven sarees would be sent to Surat for printing and dyeing. The sarees with attractive designs will be given to women in the age group of 18-40.

Those who are above 40 will get a plain saree with colour border. The sarees will be distributed to the two categories separately.

The saree distribution committee will consist of Fair Price shop dealer, village revenue officer and the self-help groups as members.

The sarees will be distributed among the beneficiaries 10 days ahead of the Bathukamma festival in the presence of people’s representatives.

The distribution programme will be held on the premises of a school in the village or on the premises of Panchayat office.

As and when the stock of sarees arrives at the warehouse, they would be routed to various villages and mandals for distribution, said Bhadradri-Kothagudem District Revenue Officer S Kiran Kumar.
