Khammam: The Left party leaders and the representatives of various social fora, who were vociferous opposing the shifting of the district Collectorate to a location near VV Palem village, threatened the government of dire consequences if it went ahead with its proposal.

The roundtable conference conducted under the aegis of CPI (M) here on Friday has in unison opposed the construction of Collectorate complex near VV Palem, which is 10 km away from the city. The leaders questioned the rationale behind shifting of the existing Collectorate when it was ideally located for the people coming from far across.

“We support the construction of Collectorate complex but not at the cost of acquiring farmers’ lands,” he said. Referring to the Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar’s comments, the leaders demanded the administration to make an announcement finalising the NSP land for the construction of Collectorate.

CPM State secretariat member P Sudarshan Rao, district secretary Ponnam Venkateswar Rao, CPI district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao, CPI-ML New Democracy State leader Rayala Chandrasekhar, CPI-ML New Democracy (Chandranna) state leader Koleti Nageswar Rao, AIDWA central committee member Smeena Afroz, T-MASS district chairman Jwalitha, Rythu Sangham State leader Nunna Nageswara Rao were among others present.
