Khammam: The Poru Bata Yatra launched by the Communist Party of India (CPI) demanding social justice and all-round development of the State is scheduled to reach Khammam on Friday.

As part of the Yatra, the CPI is organising a public meeting at Pavilion Grounds here on October 27, in which Balladeer Gaddar, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, CPM State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, Telugu Desam State vice-president and Sathupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and senior CPI leaders Puvvada Nageswara Rao and Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao will share the dais.

Party district secretary Bagam Hemanth Rao said that arrangements were done for the public meeting. “The agenda of the Yatra is to exert pressure on government to speed up the Sri Sitarama Lift Irrigation Scheme, development of Wyra Lanka Sagar and Jalimudi projects besides fulfilling the promise of double bedroom houses to poor and 3 acres land to dalits,” Hemanth Rao said.

It may be noted here that the Poru Bata Yatra which was launched on October 6 will end on December 3. Meanwhile, the CPI leaders led by Hemanth Rao met the Khammam Municipal Corporation in-charge commissioner Sripada Rao and expressed their dissatisfaction over removing the flexis of Poru Bata Yatra put up by their party. They further stated that it was not fair on part of the authorities to deny their flexis and allow others.
